    Hello.
I suspect that the problem has already been rolled out, but I'm running out of ideas and motivation :( .
I would like to use terrestrial television. I live on the 1st floor of a 4-story block in Winogrady, Poznań. The apartment has a socket with TV and R outputs, but after connecting the TV (new, has a built-in tuner) to the TV output, it does not search for any digital channels. I was thinking about buying an indoor antenna for terrestrial television, but they advised against it in the RTV store, due to the problem with signal reception in this part of Poznań (for this reason it is said to be one of the most frequently returned goods). There is already an old satellite antenna on the balcony - it works, after direct connection to the TV, it searches for 25 channels, but only one is saved permanently. Attempting to improve the signal strength (which reaches max. 6-7) by aligning the antenna does not bring any positive results.
My question is - what else can I do to finally enjoy TV in my apartment? Does it make sense to buy an external terrestrial TV antenna and try to align it? Or maybe give it a rest and just order TV from, for example, Cyfrowy Polsat?

    Regards.

Winogrady, first floor - no chance.
There may be a socket - but from cable.
What is this tv that you connected the satellite dish to?
The only thing you can try is to catch the illuminated MUX-3 at k. 27 from the tower on Piątkowo (a piece of antenna cable is enough for that) and MUX-8 at k. 9 from the Agricultural University.
    Search manually, not automatically.

First, check what I wrote about, rather than CP, it is better to have a cable cable bundled with the Internet.

If you have the "Cable TV" item in the rent, Report the damage to the building administration and they should fix it.

Ordinary Thomson TV - I had an antenna cable (the wind-up one, I think it's professionally called the F connector) with adapters and I took advantage of the fact that there is already a satellite dish on the balcony.

Well, the internet is already from the Cooperative, so maybe the best thing to do with them is something related to television

Can anyone have some tips on manual search? Antenna tuner understand? In the tv I have here, I have to give the frequency (when setting the antenna tuner) and the modulation with "symbol rate" (whatever that means).

Please provide the model of this TV.
Connect the antenna cable and put the other end out of the window.
Go to TV settings - Tuning / installation of channels - Digital - show what you have there, because it's definitely not what you wrote.

Only to the center conductor of the cable you will put out the window. Attach 30-40 cm of a single wire.

There is no such need - I know this area and a nail stuck in the antenna socket would be enough to catch the lighting from the tower on Piątkowo.

I put an electric cable on both sides of the antenna cable and started the search (my woman means, because I was standing on the balcony like a moron :D ). What was my surprise when it found channels on both frequencies, and in quite decent quality - from TVP, through TVN, Polsat, to TVP Sport (twenty-some channels in total). So in the cheapest version I have to twist a wire antenna, unless someone knows a better solution :) . Thank you very much for your help. I think the topic to be closed.

Moment - I mean you have all MUX except 8 - it is strange in this location - you can try some external antenna.

I admit that on one of these frequencies (probably 205 500, I will not cut my hand) it is easier to maintain the signal strength.

for a test, you can try an external antenna.

In that case - since it works on the first better cable I got - it makes sense.

Słowiańska, i.e. a balcony towards the Citadel / center - all in all, there are not many obstacles on the way, so there is a chance.

If you already have Internet with WTVK (fiber optic, symmetrical 750 / 750Mb / s link), you can also have cable TV from them. I propose to contact them either for a decoder or for a CI card with a module; it was convenient for me to take the card as I didn't have any extra cables, remotes, etc.
Your TV doesn't have a TVSAT head, so how did you get any channels?
Thanks to the Vinograd cable cable, you will not have to bother with buying antennas, cables, setting it up, etc.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around improving terrestrial TV reception for a resident on the 1st floor of a block in Winogrady, Poznań. The user initially connected a Thomson TV with a built-in tuner to a TV socket but failed to receive digital channels. Suggestions included using an indoor antenna, which was discouraged due to poor reception in the area. The user also had an old satellite antenna that found some channels but struggled with signal strength. Responses advised manual tuning to specific frequencies (MUX-3 and MUX-8) and suggested using an external antenna for better reception. The user successfully found channels by improvising with an electric cable and is considering an external antenna for a more permanent solution. Additionally, contacting the local cable provider for cable TV options was recommended.

FAQ

TL;DR: 30–40 cm of wire can work as a DVB-T antenna; "Attach 30–40 cm of a single wire." This FAQ helps Winogrady first‑floor residents test reception, manual‑tune, or pick cable TV. [Elektroda, Wojtek M, post #18927092]

Why it matters: It shows how to quickly check terrestrial TV viability in a tricky low-floor location and what to do next.

Quick Facts

How do I quickly test if terrestrial TV is reachable from my 1st-floor flat?

Connect a coax cable to the TV and hang the other end outside the window. Set the TV to digital antenna input. Start a manual scan to check signal bars before buying gear. This fast test shows if your location sees usable field strength near the window. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927078]

What exact frequencies should I enter for manual DVB-T tuning in Poznań?

Enter 522000 kHz and 205500 kHz during manual search. These correspond to local multiplex test points users referenced for Poznań. Check signal strength and quality on each frequency before storing channels. If one locks, scan the rest automatically afterward. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927133]

How can I build a simple indoor antenna that actually works?

Use a 30–40 cm single wire attached to the center conductor of your coax. Place it near a window for best results. Keep the shield away from the wire tip to avoid detuning. "Attach 30–40 cm of a single wire." It’s a zero-cost way to validate reception. [Elektroda, Wojtek M, post #18927092]

Auto scan finds nothing — what should I try next?

Run a manual search first. Target MUX-3 on channel 27 and MUX-8 on channel 9. "Search manually, not automatically." Even a short piece of cable can confirm signal presence locally. Once you lock one MUX, auto-scan to collect the rest. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927034]

Roughly how many free channels can I get if DVB-T works here?

Users report finding around twenty-some channels after successful tuning, including TVP, TVN, Polsat, and TVP Sport. Channel counts vary by antenna placement and MUX availability. Store channels only after confirming stable quality readings, not just strength. [Elektroda, ciekawyswiatka, post #18927197]

I get everything except MUX-8 — why?

This happens in the area. One user had all multiplexes except MUX‑8. Try a small external antenna or adjust placement to improve VHF reception. VHF can behave differently indoors than UHF. This is a known edge case in low-floor setups. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927217]

Is buying an indoor amplified antenna worth it in Winogrady?

"Winogrady, first floor - no chance." Try the wire test and manual tuning before buying. If you must buy, consider a small outdoor unit on the balcony. Verify stability on MUX-3 and MUX-8 after placement, then secure the mount. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927034]

Is my wall TV/R socket actually cable, not rooftop terrestrial?

Yes, it might be a building cable socket. That explains why DVB-T auto scans can return nothing. Ask your administration which provider feeds the socket. If it’s cable-only, consider their TV service or a CI module option. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927034]

Cable TV is listed in my rent — who fixes a dead socket?

Report it to your building administration. If the subscription is part of your housing fees, they should arrange restoration. Mention the TV/R outlet and lack of digital channels during your report. Keep your TV’s model and test notes ready. [Elektroda, Wojtek M, post #18927047]

My Thomson 32HD3301 plus a satellite dish is confusing — what’s happening?

That TV model lacks a DVB‑S tuner. Connecting a satellite dish directly to its terrestrial/cable input won’t provide proper satellite reception. Use a separate satellite receiver or switch to the building’s cable TV with a CI card or decoder. [Elektroda, clubber84, post #18927257]

Which direction should I point a small outdoor antenna from Osiedle Przyjazni?

From a southeast-facing balcony toward the Citadel/center, the path has fewer obstacles. There is a reasonable chance of reception. Mount the antenna outside and fine-tune azimuth for stability on your strongest MUX. Secure the cable to avoid movement. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927251]

Should I pick Cyfrowy Polsat satellite or local cable here?

Local cable is simpler if your building is already wired. WTVK offers fiber internet and TV via CI card or decoder, reducing extra boxes and cabling. This bundle avoids antenna purchase and alignment. Verify availability for your staircase and flat. [Elektroda, clubber84, post #18927257]

How do I run a manual DVB-T scan step by step?

  1. Open your TV menu and choose Tuning/Installation, then Manual search.
  2. Enter 522000 kHz, start search, and save any found channels.
  3. Repeat for 205500 kHz, then run a full auto-scan to pick up the rest. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927133]

Can a tiny conductor really confirm signal near Pi05tkowo?

Yes. Users note even minimal conductors can light up signal indicators near the Piątkowo tower. One expert joked a nail in the socket would suffice. Use a short wire safely on the coax center conductor to test. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #18927097]
